As an N.U.in Italy student, you will reside in either JCU’s Gianicolo Residence or Lungara Apartments, both located within minutes of the JCU campus in the Trastevere neighborhood, a historic and vibrant neighborhood known for its cobblestone streets, charming cafes, and cultural attractions. Both housing options are apartment buildings that vary in size and layout and have their own benefits. The Gianicolo Residence is closer to the JCU gym and residential life services, whereas the Lungara Apartments provide a more immersive experience among Roman locals. All N.U.in Italy students are expected to abide by the JCU housing policies and regulations.
Amenities: Students will live in either a double or triple apartment which include an equipped kitchen, 1-2 bathrooms and a common area. The buildings have 24-hour security guards. Air conditioning is located in the main living area of the apartment as well as the individual bedrooms. Apartments come fully furnished, including beds, desks, chairs, and a closet. Each resident is provided with two sets of sheets, two sets of towels, one comforter, a pillow, a nightstand, and one desk per resident. Apartments also include basic kitchen supplies including pans, pots, cooking utensils, cutlery, knives, mixing bowls, cutting board, and plates. The Gianicolo Residence also includes a fitness center among its amenities.
Common Areas: There is a student lounge located on the ground floor of Gianicolo and it is open 24 hours a day. Additionally, students frequently utilize a nearby Social Centre across from the Gianicolo Residence, which offers spacious indoor and outdoor areas and is conveniently located near both residences.
Meals: As an N.U.in student, you will add cooking to your repertoire! At N.U.in Italy, accommodations are all equipped with kitchenettes, as meal plans are not a part of university life there. While a meal plan is not provided, you will receive a limited amount of pre-loaded meal points to spend at the JCU cafeteria. JCU’s on campus dining facility, the Tiber Cafe, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday and for breakfast and lunch on Fridays. You’ll also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, exploring nearby grocery stores, international food markets, cafes, and more with your peers. Note that gluten is found in most local cuisine.
Laundry: Students will have access to a washing machine and drying rack in their apartment but may also utilize local laundry services.
Mail: Students will have their own mailbox at John Cabot University in the student lounge at the Guarini campus. Students will be assigned a mailbox number and address where they can receive letters or care packages. Please note that packages larger than a shoebox won’t be accepted.
