As an N.U.in Scotland student, you will reside in Kelvinhaugh Street residence. All rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, lamp, chair, closet, storage shelves, and a bookshelf. Students will live in a 5-person or 3-person apartment or “flat” that will have individual bedrooms, a common living area, a kitchen, a shower room, and toilet facilities. There are on-site laundry facilities available to students. Kelvinhaugh Street is a 15-minute walk to the central campus and is close to the City Center and West End.
Amenities: Each student will receive one set of bed linen which includes: a mattress protector, sheet, duvet and cover, pillow, and pillowcase. Each flat is also provided a kitchen kit that has cookware, cutlery, and tableware.
Common Areas: Directly across from the Kelvinhaugh Street residences, students can access Cairncross House, which offers a small common area for studying or socializing throughout the semester. On campus, students also have the option to book study spaces or private rooms for group work. A popular choice is the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, which features two cafes, bookable rooms for group study, a prayer and reflection space, print stations, and more.
Meals: As an N.U.in student, you will add cooking to your repertoire! At N.U.in Scotland, accommodations are all equipped with kitchenettes, as meal plans are not a part of university life there. You’ll also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, exploring nearby grocery stores, international food markets, cafes, and more with your peers.
Laundry: There is a laundry room located in the building for use. Machines are operated through an app or by card with charges and instructions displayed within each room.
Mail: Upon arrival to Kelvinhaugh Street residence, students will receive an envelope containing their residence address which will be used for flat mail delivered directly to their door. For larger packages or items that cannot fit through the mail slot, students have three options:
1. Have the package sent to their provided mail address, but they must be home to receive it.
2. Use an Amazon locker at a nearby retail store.
3. Ship packages to the Cairncross front desk at 20 Kelvinhaugh Pl, Finnieston, Glasgow G3 8NH, UK. Students will be notified when the package arrives and must pick it up directly from the front desk.
