Greece: Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Greece is on the southern tip of the Balkan Peninsula and is home to nearly 10.4 million people. Influential in ancient times, it’s often called the cradle of Western civilization. Greece is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, Western literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, theater, and the Olympic Games.

Thessaloniki: Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece and a gateway to Southeastern Europe. Founded in 315 B.C., historic Thessaloniki is now a modern seaport city of over one million inhabitants renowned for its wide avenues, quaint squares, tree-lined streets, neoclassical buildings, Byzantine monuments, historical museums, modern theaters, ancient ruins and warm hospitality. Thessaloniki is known in the Balkan region for its tasteful restaurants, hip cafes, and shops. It is located a short drive from sandy beaches and crystal-clear blue waters of the Halkidiki peninsula, as well as to the snow-covered ski resorts and challenging mountain treks.

Most importantly, Thessaloniki is a lively university town with well over 100,000 university students. One out of every ten residents is a student. With a large student population, this vibrant city invites and welcomes young people from all over the world.

Neighborhood: Located steps away from the boardwalk, the hotel residences offer easy access to all Thessaloniki has to offer. There are coffee shops, restaurants, and stores within easy access to all hotels. A short stroll will take you to the historic White Tower and Aristotle Square, with views of Mount Olympus across the bay. Local theaters, museums and bustling squares with Roman and Byzantine ruins are all within walking distance. You can easily catch a bus up to Ano Poli, the city’s ancient acropolis with its fortress still standing.

Campus: The ACT campus features green spaces and wooded areas and is home to over 3,000 faculty, staff, and students. The Bissell Library is the largest English language library in southeast Europe, with quiet and group study areas.
