As an N.U.in Ireland student, you will live in a student residence hall, which may also house Irish and other international students. Typically, N.U.in students are housed at UCD’s Belgrove Residences. The student residence is located on the University College Dublin’s campus, with a short walk to your classes. Residences are within easy access to Dublin’s city-center via public transportation.

Typically, N.U.in Ireland students live in an apartment style residence or “flat” with approximately three other students. N.U.in students typically live in the same apartment buildings together. Each flat has two bathrooms to share, as well as a kitchen and common living area. This is a great way to spend time with your flatmates cooking meals together, studying and getting to know friends.

The services available to you at the UCD Village include common areas with amenities such as sports facilities, a grocery store, and pharmacy, making Belfield an excellent place to live and study. Cafes and shops are just a few miles away.

Amenities: The student residence includes:

  • Single rooms in a shared flat (apartment)
  • A single bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe in every bedroom
  • A duvet and pillow for each student
  • One bathroom per two single rooms
  • Kitchens with refrigerators/freezers, stoves, and microwaves
  • Common dining and lounge area with tables and dining areas
  • Air conditioning
  • Wireless Internet
  • 24/7 security presence
  • Printers are available in several buildings at UCD

Meals: As an N.U.in student, you will add cooking to your repertoire! At N.U.in Ireland, accommodations are all equipped with kitchenettes, as meal plans are not a part of university life there. You’ll also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, exploring nearby grocery stores, international food markets, cafes, including the UCD Village, and more with your peers.

To purchase anything at one of UCD’s food outlets, laundry, etc., you can add money to your UCARD, which can function like a debit card on campus. Students will learn how to manage their UCD UCARD during the on-site orientation. UCD UCARD instructions can be found here.

Laundry: Students have access to both washers and dryers located within the student residence for a per-load fee.

Mail: You will be provided with a mailing address upon arrival in Dublin. Please note, items shipped internationally may require additional customs fees or time for processing. Letters and small envelopes will be slipped under your door. For packages, we suggest that all packages be shipped via a provider that does not require a signature (typically, UPS and DHL require signatures, and the USPS does not). The reason for this is that UCD cannot sign for a package on behalf of a student, so any packages requiring signatures are at the risk of being returned to the shipping facility.

Please note that you must be home and have an Irish phone number to receive your package. Please work with your sender to learn about the arrival date and time. The postal service will call your Irish phone number and hand deliver the package to you. They cannot leave packages unattended on doorsteps and will not be delivered.

Alternatively, you have the option of using other parcel locker services such as those provided by An Post or OOHPod. These services offer secure storage lockers for package pickup.

An Post Parcel Lockers:

  • Free to use and located at various convenient spots.
  • Once a package is delivered to a locker, you will receive an SMS with an access PIN.
  • Lockers are accessible 24/7 depending on the location.

OOHPod:

  • Offers different plans including pay-as-you-go and subscription options.
  • Secure parcel lockers are available for use across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • You receive a notification when your package arrives and can pick it up at your convenience.
  • Lockers provide 24/7 access at various locations, ensuring flexibility and convenience for students.

For sensitive deliveries such as a new bank card or other important documentation, please contact [email protected] for an address to use.

Fitness: N.U.in students are able to take advantage of UCD Sports and Fitness facilities including an expansive gym, olympic sized swimming pool, 140 classes per week, and much more! Students are also able (and encouraged) to join a variety of UCD sports clubs during their semester.
